This is a place for locals to advertise farm and garden-related items that are up for grabs. We'll also post items from our local vendors and sponsors. If you could sell it at the farmers' market or if you would like to give it away, you can probably post it here. Additionally, you may be able to post a few things that you would be unable to bring to the farmers' market such as livestock or large farm equipment. It's also a way to offer things when the market is not in season or when you can't make it during our regular hours. Some examples of the many posts you might find in this section would be "Pick my apricots" or "Free Rooster" or "Tilling services available". Let us know if you would like us to post something for you. Be specific about what you offer and don't forget to add your contact information or site URL if applicable. Friendly Local Growers with Produce, Seeds, Plant Starts, & More! Gene's Produce & Plant Starts - Gene usually sells his garden produce at the market, and has vegetable starts available early in the season. Gene also has a greenhouse if you would like to pay him to start some flower or vegetable plants for you. He does a great job, can give you plenty of gardening tips, and his prices are very reasonable. If you have empty plastic plant containers to give away, he would probably be willing to take them off your hands. He loves it when you bring back the gallon pots! Call Gene at (801) 891-8133 or strike up a conversation with him at the market. Christy & David Holmes - Christy and David grow a variety of garden goodies in their yard, and may occasionally even bring fresh eggs, baked goods, or who knows? David is also an artist. They are at Paradise Market almost every week. This year they plan to grow peas, beans, hot peppers, herbs, tomatoes, pumpkins and just a little of everything they can get seeds for. Call Dave at (435) 890-2033 Joseph's Garden Produce - Joseph grows genuine local produce in abundance. He uses sustainable agriculture methods that are on par with organic certification requirements. As with most Community Supported Gardens, subscribers are welcome to visit the garden, and volunteer to help out sometimes if they like. Joseph and his veggies have been featured in some newspaper articles, too. You can buy Joseph's produce at a few Utah and Nevada markets and stands, purchase a CSA subscription, and even make arrangements to have produce shipped or delivered. If you are willing to buy a whole truckload of produce, he will drive up to 150 miles from his garden in Paradise/Avon to bring it to you. If you don't see something you're looking for, ask for it, and he'll try to accommodate your request. Please check his site, call, write, or email him if you would like more information. He tends to have things to offer most of the year, whether fresh-picked in season or stored through the cold months. Joseph also has some seed-saving projects going on and is working to find non-GMO strains that do particularly well in our climate. Let him know if you' be interested in purchasing some of his seed or letting him use a portion of your land for his projects. Woolies - Linda makes mittens from old sweaters she rescues and recycles into "Woolies". They're truly adorable and you know how much it snows here! Come check out all the fun sets she has hanging from branches in her booth. The story of Woolies began in Northern Utah while Linda and her husband were living at Hardware Ranch. One of the first places Linda sold her mittens was at Paradise Market. The company is now based out of Colorado. They are making plans to keep a presence in Utah as well, though. The mittens are basically the same, but there are improvements to the newer ones. If you have any questions, comments, or stories about how Woolies saved your hands from frostbite or made your popularity status increase, just send an email to: Linda@RecycledWoolMittens.com Stout-Made Crafts is run by adorable wife and mother, Ciera Stout. She designs, makes, and sells baby items, such as baby shoes, carseat covers, and nursing covers. She's a Mom, so she makes things she finds a need for. She makes the nursing covers longer, makes many things so they'll reverse, etc. I'm not sure how often this clever crafter will be able to make it to the market this season, if at all, but I wanted to make sure I linked her blog anyway, because the Stout family could use your help. Ciera didn't tell us much when she asked for an application, but after glancing at her blog, I learned that this family is dealing with some difficult health issues and could use your prayers and support. If you'd like to help them, you can make donations or buy some of the cute items she has for sale. To order online, just email her at cieranm2@yahoo.com. Click
